Geekvape Z coil, what the manufacturer still lists

Four values in one shop’s drop-down menu, three on the manufacturer’s own page. The Geekvape Z coil, the mesh head used in the Zeus tanks, does not look the same depending on whether you read Geekvape’s catalogue or a retailer listing. Between references missing from the catalogue, details added by sellers and older boxes still in circulation, we set the official page for the series against the shop listings that rank best in search results.

Which Geekvape Z coil does the manufacturer still list?

The official page for the series now shows only three heads, all in the XM Boost version and built for high-power direct lung vaping. The 0.15 ohm runs from 70 to 85 W, the 0.2 ohm from 70 to 80 W and the 0.4 ohm from 50 to 60 W.

Geekvape describes a mesh heating structure, cotton selected for wicking and seals in food-grade silicone. The page names no other value, neither the 0.25 ohm Dual nor the first-generation 0.15 ohm that still turns up in some boxes.

For a buyer, the reference Geekvape Z coil is therefore one of those three XM Boost heads. Everything else belongs to retailer stock or to generations the manufacturer no longer puts forward.

The official range against shop listings

Seven retailer pages that rank well for the query were read alongside Geekvape’s page, two from British shops and five from other European shops. The three XM Boost values appear everywhere with the same ranges, but two references missing from the official catalogue keep coming back.

0.25 ohm Dual, 45 to 57 Wnot listed5 of 7
original 0.15 ohm, 80 to 90 Wnot listed2 of 7

The 0.25 ohm Dual, a value only shops still show

The 0.25 ohm Z coil, with two wires, keeps its place in shop menus with a range of 45 to 57 W. Several listings point out that it does not fit the P Sub Ohm tank, unlike the three XM Boost heads. The two British listings read show only the three XM Boost values, which suggests the 0.25 ohm now lives mainly in older stock elsewhere.

The original 0.15 ohm, an earlier-generation reference

The first 0.15 ohm in the series was rated from 80 to 90 W, which is 10 W higher at the bottom of the range than the current XM Boost. Two of the pages read still list both side by side. A 0.15 ohm box without the XM marking most likely belongs to that older generation, and its range must not be confused with the one for the recent version.

What listings add without a manufacturer source

Several details that are common on shop pages do not appear in the text of the official page. They are not wrong as such, but they come from retailers, and that is how they should be read.

The wire material is the clearest example. Listings mention Kanthal A1 mesh, while Geekvape only refers to its mesh structure without naming the alloy. Packaging follows the same pattern, since retailers sell the series in packs of five heads of one value, which the official page does not spell out in its text.

Overall wattage ranges also vary from one listing to the next. One spec block shows 45 to 90 W for the whole range, while the description on the same page gives 45 to 85 W. The gap most likely comes from the original 0.15 ohm, counted in one place and not in the other, and only the range for the value you actually bought is worth using to set the mod.

Interchangeable heads, Geekvape’s rule on generations

On compatibility, the manufacturer keeps things simple. Its Q&A states that the XM Boost heads share the same interface as the previous generation and swap with it, which explains the mixed boxes found in some drawers.

Retailer compatibility lists agree on the Zeus family, from the original Zeus Sub Ohm to the Z Sub Ohm SE and the Z Sub Ohm Tank 5, and on the Z Fli, Z Fli 2 and Obelisk tanks. The P Sub Ohm takes the three XM Boost heads but not the 0.25 ohm. In the UK, only the 2 ml TPD versions of these tanks meet the legal cap for a refillable tank. Aegis kits supplied with a Zeus tank therefore take the same series, like the kit covered in our Aegis Solo 3 manual walkthrough, which comes with a 0.2 and a 0.4 ohm.

Moving from one generation to another causes no mechanical problem. One precaution remains, using the range of the new head instead of keeping the setting from the old one.

Fitting a Geekvape Z coil and getting the mod to read it

The official page gives a short procedure, more precise than most listings. Before fitting, the tank should hold e-liquid, the head is pushed in firmly to avoid a poor contact, then the cotton soaks for 3 to 5 minutes after filling.

The last step is the one shops repeat least. Geekvape asks you to check that the resistance detected by the mod and the output you have set both match the head installed. A Geekvape Z coil that is not fully seated can distort that reading, and a mod set for another value then fires outside the intended range.

The same document lists the signs that a head needs replacing, including one that listings rarely mention. Besides a burnt taste and fading flavour, Geekvape names e-liquid left in the tank for too long.

Checking that a box of Geekvape coils is genuine

With boxes from different generations in circulation, authenticity becomes a practical question. Geekvape publishes a verification page based on a scratch-off label.

Once the coating is removed, the label reveals a 14-character anti-counterfeiting code made of letters and numbers, which you enter on the manufacturer’s website. If the coil packaging carries that label, the check takes a few seconds. Our guide to the Geekvape manual explains what authenticity changes for the warranty and for reading the brand’s documents.

FAQ

These questions come up around the series and often go unanswered on product pages.

What does DTL mean on a box of Z heads?

DTL stands for direct to lung, a draw where vapour goes straight into the lungs without being held in the mouth first. Geekvape presents the series as designed for this high-power style, which rules it out for a tight mouth to lung draw.

What should you do if the mod does not show the right value?

The manufacturer points first to a poor contact. Refitting the head and pushing it in firmly usually solves it, then compare the value read by the mod with the one printed on the box before vaping.

Should a head be replaced after e-liquid has sat in the tank for a long time?

Geekvape lists this among its reasons to replace a head, alongside a burnt taste. A tank left full for a long period can change the flavour the head delivers, even if it has seen little use.

Do the Z Max and Z Nano 2 tanks take Z coils?

No. The compatibility lists published by retailers exclude both tanks, which take other coil series from the brand despite the letter Z in their names.

Is a 0.2 or a 0.4 ohm Z coil better?

Neither is better in itself. The 0.2 ohm is rated from 70 to 80 W and the 0.4 ohm from 50 to 60 W, so the 0.4 ohm suits a mod with less output or a slightly less open draw, while the 0.2 ohm needs a mod comfortable above 70 W. Our Geek Vape Aegis user manual covers the settings shared across the range.

Geekvape Z coil, read the manufacturer page before the listing

On the manufacturer side, the Z series now comes down to three XM Boost heads at 0.15, 0.2 and 0.4 ohm. The 0.25 ohm Dual and the original 0.15 ohm still circulate in shops, each with its own range, and several common details on listings come from retailers rather than from Geekvape.

Before ordering a Geekvape Z coil, the range printed on the box, the XM marking and the authenticity code remain the safest reference points. These gaps between the official catalogue and what shops sell, which affect plenty of other consumables, are among the market stories Journal du Vapotage keeps following.
